In
late 1957, Denison Mines was being developed as the world's largest
underground trackless uranium mine.
Cliff spent the first of his three periods with Denison Mines in 1957
starting as a Mine Shift Boss. At 24 years old, he rose to the rank of Mine
Captain, one of the youngest mine captain's to date in Ontario. In Cliff's
first tenure with Denison, he was exposed to the operation and development
of new machinery for the mine and the training of completely green
personnel. For him, Denison represented the first climb to upper management.
